MTR2000 Reset Issue

Post by WB0FNA »

We have a UHF MTR2000 for paging, controlled and channel steered with a MCC7500 Console. It has developed an issue where intermittently the station will do a warm reset during a page.

The Station Control Module with newer firmware and the Antenna Relay have been replaced but still having the issue.

Anyone ever had a similar issue?

Thanks
Mark

Create a NEW codeplug in the programming software, fill out all parameters and program the station with it. DO NOT use a saved or read copy of the codeplug. This solves a lot of weird stuff with MTR2000's.

It's called Codeplug Stagnation, according to Motorola.

Have a look at this: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=101645

Unfortunately the new codeplug did not resolve this issue.

Sounds like a failing station control module. There should be replacements available on eBay.

We already replaced the Station Control Module that had a newer firmware version.

And you are still having issues? I'd be looking at the power supply in that case.

What radios do you own?: XTL5K, NX300, PD782, Spark Gap

Does it show errors on the station diagnostic log?
+1 however on PS issue especially if you've replaced things and written a new CP.

I believe it's down to a power supply or PA issue, everything else has been replaced.
Appreciate your help!

Mark,

Try running the station on DC and see what you get. I believe it requires +24-28VDC.

Careful, that's only if it's a 100-watt unit. 30/40 watt units run on 12 volts.

Probably not the issue considering you changed the SCM but are you running an ATMEL codeplug chip? if not that can cause issues.
