Your probably going to get as many suggestions as you get people coming back to you.

I have used the new free version of Norton with good results. I dumped them several years back as it was causing the computer to come to a crawl. That issue seems to be corrected in the current version that you can download. Guess they got too many complaints and bad press of slowing the computer processing down so much.

I use AVG both paid and free versions with extreme success.

An older version of Windows Security Essentials + Malware Bytes always worked well for me. New versions of Windows Security Essentials won't install on XP because it's EOL

Antivirus isn't going to keep you safe running XP (it's pretty arguable if AV does any good at all, but that's another discussion). Time to upgrade.

I've had very good results with Comodo's internet security. Yes it is free.
