The introduction of R04.00.05 firmware has evidently made a change where you can no longer have an out of band frequency.
I have been successfully listening to a UHF simulcast of an 800 trunk system on 470.4375 until I made the firmware upgrade. Radio now gives me the dreaded "Rx Freq Error".
The personality is set as RX Only. CPS R04.00.01 is set to Expert View and under Radio Information/Frequency Ranges: Allow Invalid Frequencies and all the bands are checked.
Suggestions?
Thanks!
Marshall

Great.....
Methinks I won't update my FW on my APX past 2.00.xx. for right now...... Everything is working so far...

Marshall...
Did you ever get a resolution to this? I found this in the update file for the APX 4.00.00 to .01 CPS while browsing. Maybe some sort of corruption in the CP due to this.
My CP templates were created in Ver 1.00.something I'm sure so I may run into this if I try to upgrade FW.

CPS Release Notes
APX 7000, 7500
New Version: R04.00.01
Old Version: R04.00.00
Issue Updates:
Abstract: Reading and writing a portable may fail on some codeplugs.
System Platforms Affected: Any
Special Configurations: Issue is isolated to those portables that were shipped from
the factory before November 2009; that is, those that were shipped with codeplugs
compatible with CPS version R01.00.00.
User Symptom: After reading and writing a codeplug with R04.00.00, the Invalid
Field Report will display an error stating "The radio has encountered some invalid
fields. Please see a Motorola representative for assistance".
Description: This CPS problem has been fixed. Read and program the radio with
R04.00.01 version of CPS. A change was made in version R04.00.01 CPS to
automatically detect and correct the area of the codeplug causing the error.
If unable to obtain the R04.00.01 CPS, the following workaround may be used to
program the units using R04.00.00 CPS until the R04.00.01 version of CPS is
received.
1) Read the radio
2) Save the codeplug as an archive file.
3) Close the codeplug.
4) Open the archive file.
5) Continue w/ normal codeplug editing.
Special Note: It is critical that Steps 1 through 4 are completed before any
changes are made to the codeplug.
Special Note: Any codeplug templates created from an R01 codeplug with a CPS prior
to R04.00.00 will require the same action.

Re: APX Out of Band Rx No Longer Working
Interesting info. According to CPS, the initial radio codeplug version was R02.00.00
