APX7500 Color Display enable

Post by n9jig »

Is there a trick to enable the color selection on an O7 APX7500?

According to the Graphic Display picture in v 9 or the CPS the far right button is supposed to be for display color. There are multiple colors listed in the Display section. The radio however does not show a lable above the target button and it does not cycle thru the display colors.

Rich,

You probably know that what they're talking about is the screen background color,
not a real color display. My two 7500s do it fine, but I'm away from home and
can't check my CPS to find what makes it work, which it obviously doesn't on
your radio. IIRC there are like two shades of each color, the colors being red,
green, and amber. The red, IMHO, is godawful and, again IMHO, the green is
the best looking. These are really great radios.

Aren't those color options for O5 heads only? The O7 has intelligent lighting control.

I missed the OP's point that he was asking about an 07 head, which is a nice unit but one about which I have had no experience, so my comments are probably irrelevant.

The radio is an O7, and the Graphic Display image in the CPS does show a Color Button, so if color only works on an O5 then the graphics must be wrong.
