Some background on the installation would be helpful.

Is this a radio that has been installed and running that just came up with the error?

Is this a used radio that you just purchased and when you powered the radio up this is the error it shows?

Is this a radio that you have put together from parts? What I mean by this is the radio from one source and the control head from another source? If so, you probably have to do a radio and control head sync.

Have you made sure that the heavy power wires going to the radio (red and black wires) have the 12 volts on the. Maybe a bad fuse or the connector is not plugged into the radio.

Is this a trunk mount radio configuration? You need the control cable to go between the radio and the control head. You can try connecting the control cable to a different port on both the radio and the control head. Do one end at a time and try powering the radio up.

These are just some of the trouble shooting bits of information that you need to help with anyone on here trying to provide a solution to your problem.

Jim et al,

Information from another forum is that the OP was writing a codeplug to an otherwise working radio and got a NextGen10 error halfway through the write, the control head then went FAIL 01/90 and that's all the information we've gotten so far?

I'm wondering if the infamous R17 CPS and a USB cable was the culprit?

Either way it looks to me like the corrupt write is now preventing the brick from booting up, hence the 01/90?

Hello. I am having the same problem. I just got radio in. When I power on it shows FL 01/90 than goes to maintaince mode. I can still read radio with CPS. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Rodney Campbell

Have you tried a control sync with the CPS?

When you plug the programming cable into the control head the display should change from "Remote Device" to "Local Device"?

Next you will need the control head sync file, this is simular to a firmware upgrade file, I think the latest one is around "Astro_25_CH_BF.cvn"?

Once you have that, open CPS, click on the "Tools" menu, then "Synchronize Control Head with Radio", then follow the on-screen instructions.

Good luck!

Hey Rodney,

Did you get that link I sent you? It's still sitting there with zero downloads so I'm guessing not?

Let me know if you still need it?
