MC2100 Error

I have finally managed to get Wookie to talk to some MC2100 radio's I have...I can read the existing code plug just fine (old ambulance stuff), but then Wookie says the radio product code is not valid and won't let me write that back to the radio (just for read/write test purposes)...

if I create a new code plug from scratch, set the correct model and serial number with one frequency programmed and write that into the radio, it seems to take it fine but comes up with 'ECP VER XXXXX' on the screen...thoughts??.....
