Setting HT1000 Scan with RSS

Hi, I need some very basic information on how to program an HT1000 to scan and how to assign functions to the ABC key. This is for a radio which was never set up to scan. I know there is probably a procedure written some where to address this, but I have not been able to find it. I have searched this board as well google, but came up empty. There is information about how to use the scan function once programmed but nothing on how to put the program on the radio.

I would be very grateful for any help what soever. Jim
