GR1225 No Repeat in Out of Band?

I was given a coordinated Amateur Freq Split of 442/447. The GR1225 has a band split of 450-470 when I use the shift key method to program the low freq every thing is OK except it will not Repeat. Is there a known work around?

Try programming an in-band frequency pair first (like GMRS) and try that, to rule out it being an OOB issue.

I have never had a problem putting UHF R1225s in the ham band. My first guess would be that it was configured for an external controller.

It works fine until I enter freq's using the shift key to get below 444 MHz?

So it accepts the freqs when using the shift method.

You say it will not repeat? Does it receive and not key the tx'er?

Duplexor? If there's a duplexor, remove it from the equation and attach two antennas with proper separation then try again.

Not enough info in original post to say. Unless we are missing something.

My first guess is that the radio's VCO won't work at the frequencies your trying to force the radio to go to. You may have to tweak the VCO to get it to work at the lower frequencies. In doing this, you will probably loose the top end of where the radio use to work at. In other words you will end up loosing the top frequencies to get below the 444 number.

You must enter the numbers with the SHIFT key pressed, then release the shift key for the . (period) then press SHIFT again for the rest of the numbers.
AND you must fill in the "trailing zeros" with the shift key pressed.
So you will press for 442 then release for the period, then press again for the LAST FIVE DIGITS.
If you are on 442.55, then you still have to enter the three zeros after the 55.
Should read 442.55000 for example.
And using that you should be able to program down to 434.00000

ALL IS GOOD, MANY THANKS

I HATE TO ADMIT IT BUT STUPID ME, I JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT PL TONE ENTERED TO OPEN THE REPEATER. SOMETIMES YOU JUST MISS THE SIMPLE STUFF.

It's okay, we've all been there. At least you didn't do it on a work repeater, whose frequency is published on RR and streamed on Broadcastify...

FINAL NOTE ON THIS PROJECT
This GR1225 had the bad PA (no power output). I re-flowed the solder and got 10 watts out of it so I used it as an exciter for a 100 watt PA. I tuned a 6 can Pass/Reject duplexer to my coordinated 440 pair and its doing great with 2 cooling fans.
