XTS5000 Zone Programming Problem

Post by guru121 »

Hello All,
I am having problems with my XTS5000 when trying to assign channel zones. The CPS will only allow me to choose 1,2,3,ATG and DYN as talkgroups when assigning in trunk zone. The zone section will also will allow me to access the pull down tab in the trunk personality. However, when I try to change the personality value it automatically reverts to what was already there. The radio did take two zones, personality 1 and 17. When you do enter a value for the talkgroup the actual hex number does not show up. When I try to select most of the items, I get little sunglasses over them. Please help…..

Host Version: R12.00.11

Secure Ver: Secure ADP
Model #: H18UCH9PW7AN

That's because you have a superwhore Q52 only FPP radio that's been hit with CPS > 9. At this point you're pretty much stuck with a non-trunking capable radio (despite what the flashcode says) and you've lost FPP as well.

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

sounds like you don't have the appropriate system key for the trunked personality you are trying to modify.

The radio does do trunking perfectly on two separate systems. Still won't let me assign new zones.

as far as the key issue, I do have the right keys, I am able to change everything about the key, just not able to assign the talkgroups to the zones.????????

Was this radio recently firmware upgraded, and when was the last time it was written to, and with what CPS version?

That sums it up 100%. FPP and trunking don't mix. The only way for Trunking and FPP to work is to just have Q52, firmware R09.xx.xx and CPS 9.

Had that radio not been hit with CPS higher than rev 9, all would have OK. CPS 12 basisically removed FPP, and made trunking almost impossable to program and set up additional zones.

Your only legitimate fix at this point is to have a non-conflicting set of flashcode features installed in the radio. Because of the way that Motorola currently handles FPP, FPP and trunking don't mix. So either you live with a conventional-only FPP capable radio (and your radio will need a fix for that to work anyway) or you have FPP stripped out of the radio and have a non-FPP but trunking capable radio.

I am going to take a guess here but I am betting you have to have it re-flashed to something different for remove the FPP. Correct me if I am wrong.
