HT750 LS Scan

Post by johnny1225 »

I have a problem with the scan feature on the HT750 LS Radios. The customer has 4 trunked channels (1) security, (2) engineering (3) Housekeeping and (4) Emergency.
What they would like to do is when the base which is a CDM 750 or CDM 1250 goes to channel 4 which is emergency channel all of the other channels switch over to hear what the emergency is and then go back to whatever channel they where on. Is there also a auto scan with the HT750 LS so we do not have to program a scan on/off button. I have no problem with scan in conventional radio's but i find the HT750 LS is a little confusing.

Thanks in advance

Ugh, the HT series scan list...it's not you man, trust me.

You SHOULD (repeat SHOULD) be able to program your HT750 to auto-scan when it is on a channel, by making the radio constantly check that emergency channel AND what ever your selected channel is. (i recall some older versions of the HT series firmware didn't scan correctly - which is why I said SHOULD)

Create a scan list in the radio which includes the CH 4 - emergency channel, and then in each personality tab, add it to the auto-scan list ... so that when you are on that channel, it will automatically scan the CH4.

I apologize for not being more specific, but it's been a bout a year since i've programmed a 750, I can dust off the CPS and give you step by step if you need it...but what you want is easily providable.

You need to create a Universal ID list with the Emergency talkgroup ID in it.

Simply enable Universal ID list 1 in your trunking personality, and whatever the talkgroup ID for the emergency channel is, program that as the sole ID in the Universal ID list. This will be effective for all the talkgroups in the trunking personality.

Universal ID's are higher priority than priority-scanned ID's. If there is activity on the selected channel when the emergency call goes out, the radio will break the call on the selected channel and pass the emergency call. When the transmitting user on the selected channel stops transmitting, he too will receive the emergency call in progress.

This is assuming all radios are on the same LS personality as the radio that is transmitting the emergency call.

This is much easier to set up than priority scanning.
