PURC 5000 Help

Postby dechief » Mon Jun 16, 2008 3:12 pm

I have a 300 watt 900 MHz PURC transmitter that has a problem. When I key it up it only puts out 90 watts and the full PA light briefly lights and then goes out. The drive seems normal so I assume there is something in the PA that is toast. It is a Model Q2934A and of course the service manual from Motorola is NLA. Do any of you have a manual that I could beg, borrow or steal a copy of the PA section, or even better a whole copy?

Thanks,
Jack

Jack,
The PURC5000, 300 watt manual consists of the regular PURC5000, 1 to 150 watt manual, 68P81064E05, and the 300 watt supplement, 68P06907W44. The supplement covers the Q2934A simulcast models and the Q2935A non-simulcast models as well as a couple other, more obscure versions. The basic manual is shown on AccessPoint and being NLA, but the supplement is shown as available, with a list price of $14.70. The description is as follows: MAN INSTR 001SSP7110023. That number is also shown on my manual, so I would include it with any inquiry to Motorola. That's a pretty good situation because the basic manual has loose leaf sheets, easy to scan or copy, but the supplement is a smaller manual, staple-bound, and hard to get a good copy. If you're interested in the supplement, I wouldn't waste any time contacting Motorola as it's probably ready to go out the door any day now. It wouldn't hurt to inquire about the basic manual either, they may just have one lying around. Good Luck,
Tom

Tom,

Thanks a million for the info, I have one on order from Schaumberg. Funny the parts ID guy did not peg that? He told me the manual was no longer available. I went to the online order page but I did have to delete the P from the part number, I have seen that before with manuals the system wants to see 6806907W44. Apparently they changed the number system a few years ago.

When I was working, we used to joke about their "part number roulette". There for a while, it seemed that numbers changed almost monthly! Sorry, I should have mentioned that "this week" they want all numbers in the prefix of the part number. Oh well, that'll change next week. Glad you were able to find a manual. If you need some scans from the basic manual, email me and I may be able to help. Don't forget to check those 24 volt power supplies though.

I think it's documented over on Repeater-Builder.com it's flipping a dipswitch, power up, power down, flip switch back, and password is defaulted to "5000". Nucleus is "6000"
