MSF 5000 no Repeat audio

Post by hacksaw528 »

I have lost my repeater audio on my MSF 5000 900 Mhz. repeater. The ID audio works but that is all. What audio chip in the SSCB do I need to try replacing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

hacksaw - not sure if your repeater is from the nj batch that was recently purchased. If so they all had one of the
pins on U831 clipped off - this disables the in-cabinet repeat audio. I do not remember off hand which pin but if
you inspect it it will be obvious if it was modified. Its possible the repaired solder job on this pin did not hold.
Check it and post back your results. Good luck.....

If it is a NJ radio I was able to use the old trick on those jobs X3: a little dab (solder) will do ya.

The cut leg is very easy to spot once you find the chip. Search the 900 forums and repeater-builder there is a lot of discussion on this...with pictures.

No, It's not a NJ radio. When you first plug in the repeater the audio works until something heats up and it goes away. Guess will try replacing U831 to start with. Thnx.
