XPR5550/5350 Hum on Transmit

Anyone else noticed the radios transmit a hum on analog channels???

Can't duplicate that here, either in wide or narrow band operation.

Looks like you need to open another case with Motorola, Jeff. Radios must have forgot the words since they were shipped out of Elgin......

Oh the case has been opened, engineers found it was related to the refresh rate of the display from some modulator in the control head that was putting the hum on the TX line. I understand that it will be fixed with a firmware update next month.

What version does yours have in it, and under what conditions were you able to make it happen?

I'm still playing with our demos here and haven't noticed anything too glaring.

I have that same problem on my 4550 mobile on a UHF ham frequency. The hum will begin when I press the PTT and will stay for around 1-1.5 seconds. Maybe they'll release that update for the older model radios. I'd love to upgrade to a 5550 I just can't due to there not being a remote mount option for it yet.

Looks like a future F/W release 2.04.00 covers the hum problem. Release notes showed 11MAY2012 on MOL..
