c-Bridge from Rayfield Communications

Post by wavetar »

Anybody here have any experience with these units?

http://rayfield.net/c-Bridge

A have a couple in for testing purposes, and although the System User's Guide contains a lot of information, it doesn't appear to have information for the TRBO specific networking side of things...ie: how do I get the repeaters to 'talk' to these units & have them handle the networking?
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

Update...these things are really cool once you learn how to navigate around through the settings. We were able to establish a stable IPSC path over a satellite link that has approx 600ms of latency (round trip ping times)...way more than the standard IPSC settings of 60ms or 90ms can handle.

What is the maximum latency that support the C Bridge.

We have a customer with Hughes Bgan 4560 terminals, the latency in Chile is about 1300 to 2000 ms, its possible connect MotoTRBO Repeaters with IPSC with this latencys?

I would assume that the latency issues only come into play for close space systems where the radio will be roaming between the two or more overlaping sites. For example if you used IPSC between buildings in different areas (systems coverage not overlaping) latency will not be an issue.

Motorola doesn't recommend anything over 90ms latency for the backhaul network connecting the IPSC repeaters. With 2sec of latency you are probably going to have problems with what is called the "Arbitration Window". The arbitration window is what allows the repeaters to negotiate which call is transmitted across IPSC system. The second problem you will probably have is with "Jitter". Jitter is the difference between when a packet is expected to arrive and when it actually arrives. A high latency network usually has high Jitter (but not necessarily). IPSC repeaters will drop packets with a Jitter of 60ms or more. I'm not familiar with the C-Bridge so it may handle some of those problems for you.
