TRBO single mobile as a repeater?
Can you configure a single mobile TRBO DMR radio (ie. NOT 2 radios) to act as a repeater?
With other digital technologies, you can configure a mobile so that it will automatically relay a portable radio which has lost direct radio contact with the base station - so the mobile is acting as a basic repeater. So can you do the same with, say, an XPR4550 or XPR5550?

You mean store and forward, or simplex repeat, and No. But, who wants to listen to an echo? But, who wants to listen to an echo?

Not a parrott box but a "real time" repeater. Most of the world's emergency services radios have this facility using just one radio!

Really? I'm interested. Got an example. Thx.

Most of the world's emergency services (except mainly the US and Australia) uses the Tetra digital standard which support DMO repeater operation using just one radio!!
Motorola is also a big supplier of Tetra radios eg. MTM5400

Re: TRBO single mobile as a repeater?
Okay. Thanks. Reading up on Tetra DMO repeater operation, it requires a specialized radio to do that. It's not inherent in all Tetra products. If you want that, if you have to buy it.
Re: TRBO single mobile as a repeater?
Its just a firmware update to enable DMO Repeater. With the correct firmware, my 14 year old "basic" Tetra radio will act as a DMO Repeater!! Its like turning a basic XTL1500 into an XTL5000 via simple software updates...but the Tetra stuff does not need a new head
