Help with XPR6550 firmware downloads

Post by WA6PMW »

First of all I’m not looking for free software.
I have a MOL account and a subscription to the CPS.
I am just having trouble using MOL.
Can anyone tell me how and where to download the firmware upgrades
for the XPR6550 on MOL? This site is not what I would call user friendly.

Resource Center -> Software -> Two Way -> MotoTRBO -> Conventional Firmware

Download the .exe, install, and run CPS.

Only problem right now is Motorola have the new version of firmware posted but not the CPS. You will need R11 CPS for the latest firmware version

I also had to contact Motorola technical support, since the files were not showing. I could get to the MotoTRBO area, but since my account was not correctly affiliated for some reason, it would not show she the actual files. A few minutes later, I could drill down to them and see them. The account is current and Motorola had sent me the CPS update disk in the mail though.

Where I work there are three of us on the account and one of us is always having to call for something account related. (Especially when the CPS forced narrowband on our XPR6550's.) Getting the EID took some phone calls. Luckily the EID is for the entire TRBO CPS and not parsed out for HH, mobile and repeater.
