Motorola MotoTRBO Specifications MDC & Quik-Call

Post by rescuer »

Ok, so I look at Motorola’s website and review the brochure for the TRBO radios. Here are a couple of items that are mentioned in the brochures however not clarified:

Push-To-Talk ID: Is this the same as MDC? Will a TRBO encode and decode an MDC PTT-ID?

Private-Call, All-Call: Is this the same as Quik-Call? Can a TRBO receive Quik-Call tones?

In short, since the TRBO is marketed as a transition radio, will it work with existing technology such as MDC and Quik-Call or is it new technology?

1) TRBO radios have MDC PTT encode & decode

2) Quick Call is not available in the TRBO radio

3) Private Call and All call are TRBo digital only features (except for group MDC page). Think of the Digital side of the trbo as a nextel operating in direct connect and group connect. The radio system is very felxible on the digital side.
