I just received a new VHF XPR6550.
Model# H55JDH9LA1AN
Firmware Version: R01.06.00
Codeplug Version: 06.00.09
Problem, When receiving tones, the radio cuts out or the tones are distorted, but the voice dispatch comes over clear. Is there a setting that detects the tones and tries to mute them?
Any help would be great.
Thanks, Chris

Re: XPR6550 Audio issue
Look in to upgrading your firmware... They are at least up to R01.06.10 (as of a couple of months ago - I don't know what is current) so I'm sure there have been some fixes since.

Re: XPR6550 Audio issue
Digital radios in general are famous for their poor ability to reproduce audio tones. There is another thread active on this subject regarding TRBO radios that says, I believe, that Motorola is working on a fix, or at least an improvement, for this problem.

What type of tones are you trying to send?
If it DTMF, the new firmware version 1.7 allows for DTMF regeneration on digital.
