A few months ago I got a couple KVL-4000 keyloaders. (This is the new one, based on an industrial touchscreen PDA and a clip-on security module).
I've always thought of myself as a reasonably smart guy, but I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to turn the KVL-4000 off other than by removing the battery, The red power button turns the display off, but the thing stays on (and drains the battery within a day). There must be a better way to power this down other than pulling the battery pack!
Surely I'm missing something here. Help?
How to power down a KVL-4000?

Welcome to our world.. we have the same issue so it normally lives tethered to the power cord.
Are you having any issues with the KVL app crashing?

Thanks CTAMontrose, at least I know it's not me. The worst part is that this makes it difficult to store in a safe in a ready-to-use state. Sigh.
Yeah, the KVL app crashes from time to time for me too, but not in any repeatable way (of course).

Not to revive an old post, but I just received this model KVL with our SmartX project.
Being I charged it for over a day and then unplugged and it will be sitting for 4 days in the safe I guess I can expect it to be dead on Wednesday??
Also was very interesting to program. I ordered it with the kitchen sink and took me a while to figure out the navigation, but I must say the auto key generation is very cool as is the multi-level password protection for Admin and Operator. Coming up with a 15 letter password that I would remember was challenging as well..lol
I didn't have a chance to keyload any radios or the DIU's yet, but I hope it goes as smoothly as programming the keys and macro in the unit.
