XTL1500 - ignition sense disable?

XTL1500 - ignition sense disable?

So, the installation guide for the XTL1500 indicates that ignition sense is recommended for all mobile installations, but can be disabled in the CPS. With ignition sense set to blank (or to soft power off... tried both) I can't figure out how to force the radios to power up with providing them ignition. Am I missing something here?

These units are all factory radios running R17.01.01.
