Need actual picture of HLN7031 (LP Bracket for control head)

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

I am looking for actual picture of HLN7031 (HLN7031A). It's low profile bracket for APX/XTL control head.

Photos at Motorola and dealers shows regular bracket, but not LP. But I need LP one, because regular too high for some applications.

I could just buy it for the trial, but it's expensive one - $55.00 each!

I don't have a pic (sorry), but just some info. if you're interested. We went through the same situation and did buy the kit. It was simply the Spectra A/W/C-9 CH bracket, wing screws, and straight and 90 degree DEK head add-on bracket extenders (thus the $$$). The number stamped on the CH bracket (into the metal, if you look carefully) is the same as the one for the Spectra 9-series head. So, save yourself some money and look in your Spectra parts bin or buy one off of eBay. We went the expensive route because we didn't know at the time. It fixes your too-tall control head bracket issues in a flash. Good luck.

Hi Jeff!

Thanks! I've tried Spectra Remote CH Trunnion, but it does not work. Maybe because 05/07 head style. It's 6.0" wide, but XTL requies 6 3/4".

Looks like W9 Remote CH Trunnion P/N HLN4921A, but it costs more than XTL/APX LP Trunnion ($57.23)! I recognize /\/\other /\/\oto...

P.S.
And it's not on eBay for now :(

P.P.S.
Can you post pucture of your W9 Remote CH Trunnion and measure heigh of it?

I've only got four of those in service and they're way out in the back-40 here in my jurisdiction. I'll snap a shot next time I'm out at one of the sites. If memory serves me, they're only about 1" to 1.125" tall and have the slight forward/backward "lean" to them. Again, they fixed our problem of the too-tall factory-provided brackets. They're great if you're mounting above or below something. They do not provide enough clearance for the XTL control head rear connectors/cables if you're mounting out in front of a surface and the bracket is bolted towards the rear of the control head. Hope that made sense. I think that's why M made the original with such long legs (usually a good thing in life)...they cover all situations. -Jeff

Looks like all not so simple. Here is W9 Remote Head Installation Trunnion - HLN4921A:

It cannot be LP, because very tall and have dual-stage mount.

This P/N (HLN4921A) came from all Spectra Service Manuals.

It looks like the one in the pic here, minus the last 1.5" of height. The one we're talking about would terminate just below (above, in this pic) the first "checker" or round detent insert. I'm trying to find you the kit number we ordered, but again, you'll get the short bracket you want, plus wing screws, mounting screws, and a set-each of DEK extenders and 90-degree DEK extenders. Back with the kit number and the bracket-only part number (not orderable alone...we tried) asap. -Jeff

JeffFireRadio,

This is the thing which you have mentioned here many times?

Image

P/N on melal is: 07D80126J02.

This trunnion is ordarable. I do not know whether included in the set screws, but nothing else comes with it (like is adapters/extenders). To order you need to use P/N from catalogs (Price Book, SM, etc.), but NOT P/N stamped on metal (because it's internal Motorola P/N).

I know it's not a contest, but I just measured the one I mentioned above and it's just under 2 1/4" if that last 1/2" differential makes a difference to somebody someday. And, it doesn't have the "crook" in the vertical legs. Happy brackets to all! - Jeff

You're right, DEK's Trunnion is lower than true LP Trunnion. Sometimes it make sense.
Happy brackets to all!
