APX-7500 03 to 05

Post by lemish »

Trying to plug my XTL5000 05 head into an APX7500 mid-power unit -- shouldn't it just plug and play?

(Yes, I know why would I prefer 05 when the APX came with the 03 - install location.)

Is there any setting in the APX CPS that I am not aware of?

I don't see an option to do a control head sync with the APX CPS either.

If I try to do the sync using Astro25 CPS it gives error on Block 6 and when I tell it my radio sw is R05.00.00 it says the sync file is likely wrong (BS - just downloaded most recent.)

Anyone - help?

Just taking a stab in the dark here.

What happens with the head when you plug it in? An error or?

The head is looking for an XTL I am sure. Plug it in, do a complete APX Mobile firmware upgrade and see if that works, that is if you haven't tried it.

The 2nd version of the O5 head works no problem. There is no control head sync file for the apx. When you connect it and power up the APX it will do a firmware update on the head for you

What is the 'second' version and how do I tell which version I have?

Can the first version be flashed upgraded, or otherwise made to act like a 'second' version?

Below is image to my control head part number etc inside:

H02 is the original "XTL5000"/gray front housing, and H06 is the current "O5"/black front housing. They should be completely interchangable, as are the entire heads themselves, assuming the head is upgraded to CH firmware R08 or higher. Unless you have some compelling reason to replace the front housing, I wouldn't worry about it.
Found the above quote in another post - so do I really need the second version (still dont know what that is) or will all of them work and if so how do I get this CH firmware R08 into the head?

So the new question really is this... is it the TIB that isnt compatiable with the CHIB for remote mounting or can you mount the 05 to the radio and it will work fine? If so, whats the ribbon cable part number I need to do that?
