403-433 ASTRO Spectra...how *far* out of band?

Post by mr.syntrx »

There have been endless threads on here asking if a 403-433 ASTRO Spectra will go to 440, and the answer has been no, but how far can a low split radio go?

I'm in Australia and we have a different band plan to the USA, where a fair portion of the simplex voice allocation is down around 433-434MHz, with the repeater inputs nearby. Given the lack of P25 repeaters, I wouldn't need it to go to 438-439 where the repeater outputs are anyway.

Speaking from a friends experience it will go to 438 (we ran a P25 box in sydney up there for a while) but it wont work when the temps get up there.

It will reliably go to 435-436.

The Farthest i've got a 403-433MHz Astro Spectra to go uo was to 440MHz After that the VCO drops off both on TX, and RX.
