Astro Saber 3 Cuts Off Randomly Every 5-15 Minutes????

Post by themedic66 »

Hello all,

I have an AStro Saber M3 that randomly cuts off every 5-15 minutes, it doesn't matter if the radio is absolutely still, being moved around, txing, rxing, or anything else. I have used over 3 OEM /\/\ batteries but the same things keeps happening...what could this be as I am sure that there is a problem with the radio?

Radio Specs:

Astro Saber 3
R07.13.00
N08.02.08
591008-4FLE00-9
1MEG

THANKS!!!

Has it always done this or just started out of the blue?

If you typed your flashcode correctly, you have jacked up one that is for sure. They have been known to cause strange issues with radios including power off issues.

Wasn't there also an issue with the bottom spanner nuts not being tightened.

Nope, this problem just started not too long after I received the radio about 2 weeks ago

Tighten the spanner nuts on the bottom of the radio until they JUST stop. DO NOT overtighten them or you WILL break the studs off the frame, and you will be phuqued in short order as they are NLA.

I'd also pull the radio from the chassis and reseat everything, as well as clean the contacts on the bottom of the case with a long Q tip (maybe even gently with a pencil eraser) and some alcohol.

There's a spanner bits included with this set that will get you out of trouble:

Take a flat head screw driver and a dremel with a cutting wheel and grind out the middle of it.

You can get that for about $10 at Harbor Freight.
