MICRPHONE FOR R2008 SERVICE MONITOR?

Post by dcserkits »

Can a Radius/MAXTRAC type mic be wired for use on the R2008 Service Monitor?

I have the Motrac-style mic but it does not fit in the parts compartment/lid box.

All comments welcome.

There is a forum here on the board specifically for test equipment - perhaps try asking there?

Yes, it can be done.
You need only attach the Motrac-style connector onto the end of the mic cable.
My R2001A uses an HMN1056A mic (Compact palm microphone, Maxtrac/Radius era).
You should confirm the signals/wire color on your mic.

At the 4-pin connector (numbers are stamped in the plastic beside the pins):
1 - MIC AUDIO (Red)
2 - GROUND (Black)
3 - PTT (Green)
4 - SPKR AUDIO (N/C for palm microphone, used for handset)
Pay attention when you disassemble the connector as you will need to fashion a strain relief; the connector was not designed for flat phone cable.
