Astro25 CPS V17.01 now on MOL

Post by MTS2000des »

Just showed up last night, and timing couldn't be better.
Had a UHF XTS5K get stuck in bootload mode during a routine HOST/DSP refresh.
Was about to open a case, send it to Mexico when I logged into MOL around 2100 and noticed both Astro 25 CPS Portable and Mobile versions R17.01 showed up. Downloaded both. Was able to recover the 5K just fine, on first try. No release notes are up or were in the ZIP files, but I noticed the read/write times are much faster, especially with my FPP radios.

Too bad the software geeks can't spend the same effort in even trying to clean up the confusion on the APX software. They must have been drunk when they tried to lay that out. Why can't we have the same format like it has been over the years on the rest of the radio models?

Haven't opened up the new R17.01 version, but will try to get to it by the week end. My wish of getting a true multi PL on the XTL family probably will never happen. Enjoyed using it on the Spectra radios. Think who ever was running that software program must have retired. Because the XTL basically doesn't have a multi PL feature. There is one but you have to come up with a whole RX and TX frequency to use it. What good is that? Sure would be nice to have a table and be able to at least set the TX for a multi PL selection from the table.

I programmed my R15 firmware XTS2500 last night with the new CPS. Read/write times were normal, and it didn't get bricked. A sigh of relief was breathed.

And it's about time. Why, I had to run CPS 17.00 an entire three weeks or so before M got around to changing it...again. Glad it was time to download/upload/program the laptop fleet so soon (insert sarcasm here). Seriously, this has gotten a bit out of hand. Anyone else ready for them to get it right the first time and slow down just a bit on feature upgrades? Yikes, I feel like Jeff Dunham's Walter character.

I ran CPS R17.01.00 on 4 XTS5000's with no issues at all. Read the radios fine and i did notice a good difference in writing to the radios as well, very fast. I also upgraded the firmware in all 4 as well to R17.01.01 and did not have any issues.

Uplifted for two more XTS5000's using my OEM serial cable, went without a hitch. Using Toughbook CF-29 mk3 and XP SP3.

Really?...I did mine up to 17.00.02 and using 17.01 without any issues. Very strange.

Puked on it big time. Gets about 75% into the write then 01/82's. Tried several times. I count my lucky stars I was able to recover.
