Just FYI:
12 Aug 2010

FSB10453 - ASTRO Digital APX 7000 and ASTRO Digital APX 7500 - Affiliation issues with SmartNet Type II systems

SUBJECT: ASTRO® Digital APX 7000™ and ASTRO® Digital APX 7500™ - Affiliation issues with SmartNet Type II systems
MODEL / SYSTEM AFFECTED: All H97TGD9PW_N portable or M30URS9PW1AN mobile radios with Host firmware version R04.00.00 thru R04.00.15
These Host firmware versions shipped in radios between June 2010 and August 2010 and are denoted by serial numbers 655 or 656CLLxxxx to CLRxxxx,
Note: Any radio upgraded to Host firmware version R04.00.00 – R04.00.15 will also be affected.
SYMPTOM: When a user changes channels from any Type II Trunking system (SmartNet or SmartZone) to a SmartNet Type II system, the radio will continue to transmit/receive on the originally selected system although the display indicates it has switched systems. If user power cycles the radio, it will begin using the correct system information.
CAUSE: Firmware defect
RESOLUTION: Upgrade to Host firmware version R04.00.25 or later which can be obtained by downloading from Motorola On-Line at the following location: Resource Center > Software > Two-Way > APX Family Portables and Mobiles or by contacting the Motorola Post Sales Subscriber Technical Support team at 1-800-927-2744.
SEVERITY RECOMMENDATION: High - Perform Immediately
PARTS REQUIRED (HARDWARE/SOFTWARE): Host (firmware) version R04.00.25 or later
LABOR ALLOWANCE: This is an informational bulletin. No labor warranty is implied, intended or authorized.

Be prepared to re-key. This release bumps the MACE to R01.02.01

To do a firmware upgrade do you need anything more than the CPS, firmware and USB cable?

i-buttons are only required for features and ASK's on the APX radios. Firmware refreshes are free.

MTS/MCS Series: Firmware Refresh and Features via ibutton
Astro Series: Firmware Refresh and Features via ibutton
Astro25 Series: Firmware Refresh and Features via ibutton
APX Series: Features only via ibutton, Firmware refresh does not require iButton

All of the above radios can use either Advanced/Software system keys depending on configuration of the equipment.
