***IMPORTANT – DO NOT USE any R15.00.00 FLASHport kits or Refreshes on any XTL2500/5000 or
PM1500 unit. Doing so will cause the issue outlined below!!!!! The resolution area provides instructions
to obtain replacements (replacements are ONLY available for XTL2500/5000 and PM1500 units).
XTS2500/5000 and PR1500 portable units are not affected)***
SUBJECT: XTL2500, XTL5000 and PM1500 Mobile radios may experience a 05/93 error after updating to
R15.00.00 host firmware.
MODEL / SYSTEM AFFECTED:
XTL2500, XTL5000 and PM1500 units that were shipped with or upgraded to Host version R14.xx.xx and Control head
version R08.10.01
SYMPTOM:
After FLASH upgrading to Host version R15.00.00 (Control Head version R11.00.00) from Host version R14.xx.xx
(Control Head version R08.10.01), the unit will display Error 05/93 (after flashing completes).
NOTE: When upgrading from Host version R12.00.18 or earlier (Control Head version R08.00.00 and earlier) the
problem will not be experienced UNLESS the units have mixed and matched control heads and a transceiver with
version R12.x.xx or earlier host code is attached to a control head with version R08.10.01.
CAUSE:
An error in the FLASHport upgrade/refresh kit software that updates the mobile radio control head firmware
RESOLUTION:
If any unit is updated with R15.00.00 firmware and exhibits the 05/93 error, a technical case will need to be opened to
correct this error. Any units with the 05/93 error will not be able to be recovered in the field. To open the technical
support case, please contact Motorola System Support, TSO Subscriber Support team at 1-800-927-2744.
To obtain replacement FLASHport or Refresher kits for any R15.00.00 firmware for XTL2500/5000 or PM1500 unit,
please complete the Software Refresher Form in Appendix A or double click on the following icon to open and
modify an Excel version of the form to obtain an updated FLASHport or Refresher kit containing
R15.00.07 firmware. Please reference the factory order number(s) or C3 technical support case number as reference in
the Reason Upgrade Requested section of the form to expedite the review and processing.
If R15.00.00 firmware was to only be installed into XTL2500/5000 or PM1500 units, please DESTROY or remove
any unused R15.00.00 firmware Upgrades/Refreshes or firmware file downloaded from Motorola OnLine!!!!
