Hi everyone
I have searched the boards and have a few questions relating to the various types of Motorola software. I have been doing some searching for software and just cannot determine what is what, There is CPS, Customer P Software with more a lot of various versions, RSS, and Professional Radio Software, in many version, apart from the very obvious why is there so many types of software to choose from, I understand that each will be say DOS or Win 98 etc, what are the differences and which is the best to use or attempt to get for simply programming a radio.
Thanks in advance, David

Re: Cps, Rss, Professional Radio
RSS is DOS based software. It will typically not work correctly in a Windows DOS box
CPS is windows based software radios as new as the ASTRO saber, MTS2000 and up.
Professional Radio is the same as CPS, just a new name and is typically used by business series radios such as the HT750/1250, CDM's, etc. Although many of these "business" radios have been bought and used by public safety, the name stayed.
So basically, DOS software and windows software. Typically once you program a radio with say verison 2 release, the radio can no longer be read and programmed with any software release previous to that release. You can go up, just not down.

Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

MOST RSS is DOS based.
The current windows based Quantar programming software is called RSS (radio service software).
