Connect Plus Home button

Post by tdats »

Has anyone figured out a way to define a button to take you to a specified home channel on Connect Plus? I see in the new firmware there is a way to specify a home channel now, but all that seems to do is enable an annoying reminder every 2 minutes that you are not on the specified home channel.

I have messed with 1 touch call buttons, but I need it to work with a group call, and that does not seem to work.

Also, has anyone figured out what the option board feature 1-6 in the regular CPS map to when you are running a connect plus card?

I'm trying to work around some of the issues in our organization where we have a specified emergency channel that everyone goes to in the event of an emergency. On our 6550's, we assigned it to channel 1 and 16 so it was easy to get to, just turn the knob until it stops. Now that we have to purchase 7550's with the continuous channel knob, and the really clunky channel changing process the radio goes trough when you turn that channel knob, I am trying to figure out a better way.

We run IPSC and assign 'One Touch Access' (Home Reverts) to the 'Side button 1' short and long press on our 7550's. So Connect Plus doesn't allow that?

Not that I have been able to get to work. The annoying part is that Connect Plus uses the option card and a different software to program that card. If anyone remembers back to the passport trunking days, same sort of kinda badly planned out integration into the radio.

So Connect Plus is a Trident product, they were purchased finally by Motorola a few years ago and at that time Passport was killed off.

Yes, you have to do the normal firmware and then the Connect Plus (Option board) firmware and many "features" do not work due to the way the two firmware configurations talk with (or don't talk) each other.

With the 2.8 Package just released, there are a few usability enhancements in Connect Plus, and a note that "That's all folks." I do a CPS 15 / 2.8 capability and I can check my Connect Plus template to see what can be mapped for home. But what you are referencing is the Home Channel Reminder I think. This is for users who have to be reminded to switch back to say Plant Floor Ops, after talking to Engineering if they are not on a trunking / Capacity Plus system or went to a Talk Around.

Cap Max is the way forward....

We found that home channel reminder for sure.... At least it was not a super loud annoying beep. Took me a while to figure out what this weird tone I kept hearing was after I updated my radio and CP firmwares earlier this week.

I do find one touch access buttons in the CP CPS, but I can not assign them to a group call.

In the case of our fleet, our emergency operations channel is set as channel 1 and 16, so in an emergency the users can turn the knob till it stops and they are there. Works great on the 6550's. Well, now that we have to start buying 7550's, that doesn't work with the continuous knob. The changing of talkgroups on the 7550 while on a CP system is very clunky with it showing the TG, then the registration making it hard to change channels quickly.

So, I am working with our only 7550 to try and figure out how to overcome these issues moving forward.

I do see on the regular CPS there are button assignments for option card feature 1 trough like 6. Not sure if there is anything promising there or not.

I am open to other suggestions too.
