O5 Head Unit Power On Anomaly

Postby dlbtech » Tue May 16, 2017 9:20 pm

Hello,

I have tried searching for this and have came up empty handed.

I have a new (used, new to me) XTL5000 VHF with an O5 control head. Occasionally when it boots up, it has some sort of reverse waterfall of pixels. Then turns turns on normally. Is this normal, or some type of Anomaly/hardware issue?

If needed I can take a video or some pictures of this happening.

My apologies if this is a noobish question, this is the first I have worked on an XTL unit, I only have experience with it's portable counter parts.

Thanks!

I've seen that behavior in Gen 1 (prior to 2006) heads before. As long as the head fully boots and displays normally I wouldn't worry about it.
When exposed to Rapid Fire Growth or Thermal Emergency, two things are lost:
1. Ability to use fine motor skills
2. Presence of mind

Okay great, just making sure it wasn't something critically wrong.

Thanks for your response!!
