Post by efc »

Hello, anyone know of a clean way to intetface a secondary hand mic to the rear connector on a XTL 1500?The best way I know of is using a mic interface box, like th type that GAI tronics makes.Any other ideas?

We simply wire a standard RJ45 wall box into the accessory plug, and plug a regular HMN1035 mic into it.

Alternatively, there is an actual Motorola supplied 2nd mic extension cable for the MCS2000 with fly leads on one end, and a female RJ45 plug in a circular mold on the other. It doesn't come with any sort of bracket, so we use a standard 1" pipe U-clamp, sometimes painted to match the cable (black). We just cut off and replace the MCS pins if it's going to be used with a different radio.

For the MCS2000 second microphone kit - HKN6129A - 17 Foot Adapter Cable for second microphone.

The RJ45 that it comes with is pretty useless mounting wise, and I would go with an old mobile cell phone handset extender cable before that kit.

Agreed. You used to be able to order the mobile cell cable through the radio division, we went through them by the hundreds. Unfortunately, they've been NLA for many years now.

Ah yes, the SKN4467A. We miss it. We've never found a sub that measures up.
