XTL5000 and UCM Problems

Post by syscon411 »

Hey Everyone,

Ok so I got 3 XTL5000 VHF radios two are 50 watt M20KSS9PW1AN / 540201-001004-6 and the other is 110 watt M20KTS9PW1AN / 589288-801484-1.

The 110 has a working UCM and carrier with no issues, i use it on a daily basis.
The other 2 are new and i put a new carrier and UCMin them and i get the 09/10 error on power up.

I pulled the UCM out of the working 110 and put it in the other 2 radios and got the 09/10 error again. I swapped the new UCM and carrier into the 110 and it works fine.

WTH am i doing wrong? I got the radios on flea-bay all the tags match and i got the aeroflex report and its good. everything else on the 2 new radios working fine, i just cant seem to get the UCM to work in them. both radios have the W969 option.

What's the firmware version of the XTLs? The UCM went to MACE based later on, perhaps the radios aren't recognizing them? If the firmware of the UCMs is 7.xx.xx, they are MACE. Older ones are 5.xx.xx.

I've had a similar issue, but it was with the carrier board I took from a W series XTL5000.

Apparently they made a later revision carrier that you need (unconfirmed). Moto P/N: PHLN6918C

(P/N: MHLN6918B Should work too)
