XTS2500 B Model Fidelity Failures

Post by N4DES »

Greetings Motorola experts and Happy Thanksgiving.

Me and my team are in the process of migrating our County to P25 and in the process we are having some issues with a relative small lot (approx 20) of XTS2500's that are failing the Fidelity test when we do auto alignments and they are just not happy affiliating to the new system. The Fidelity error percentage has been running 10% to 12% with when it is supposed to be 5% or below. All the other tests are passing and they continue to operate on the 3600 SmartZone and conventional CAI with no issues.

They are being flashed with a legal ASK and in the process bumping up the latest version 20 FW.

Anyone run into this when doing a migration of these legacy FDMA radios to a new system?

If the autotune isn't complaining about the tx freq unable to warp in, you could attempt to make adjustments on one mobile to see if you can dial it in. Otherwise, you should depot them all.

When doing large migrations, it is not unusual to find batches of failing radios because (A) the agency never kept up with maintenance, or (B) there were production failures that weren't revealed in analog mode.

The auto-tune is setting the TX freq +10Hz and the radios work perfectly on our other systems that don't utilize such tight tolerances.

We are wondering as well if it might be "B" as you noted below as these were originally NEXTEL RB radios that were initially used on our 3600 system and so far has been a small lot out of over about 1000 radios. We will have to match up the serial #'s to see if there are any are close in sequence.

Worst case I'll just replace them with APX1K's and call it a day...
