Post by TomSlick »

Has anyone heard of this issue? They claim it has impacted Atlanta PD as well:

Nobody has heard any reports of problems like this? I would think if a department as large as Atlanta had been hit with it, word would have spread.

What kind of battery are you using?

There was a run of bad Impres2 IS batteries that would randomly shut down. I had the misfortune to get a few of them, and I thought my radios were developing problems.

The radios have not been distributed to us yet, so I don't what batteries, however since the article says they are replacing the radios and Motorola is aware of the problem, presumably they ruled that out as the cause.

I guess it depends on how old your radios are. Motorola issued FSB10894A in Jul 2014 regarding APX 6000 & 6000XE's shutting down without user intervention.

I believe there was an updated one showing the actual serial number range of the affected portables, I just can't find it.

Hmm - I wouldn't have thought they are that old. Anyone have a link or PDF for the FSB?

I couldn't post the whole doc, so here is the text. Like I said earlier, I'm positive that M updated the actual FSB to include the actual serial number range, but I just can't seem to find a copy of it.

The actual problem went past their September 2013 claim. We had some early 2014s doing it and M took care of it.
