Yes it seems like a good deal. Probably too good a deal. I just got quoted over 11k each for some 8k's with similar feature sets. Maybe my quote from my distributor is off but something doesn't smell quite right. The radio is in Malaysia currently. I'm always weary when buying overseas.

Just my 0.02. Good luck Seth

So many things are fundamentally suspicious about that radio. And for the record here, we're talking about this item on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/291919373280

Like escomm said, why is a radio 4 months old for sale on eBay?
Here's more food for thought:
1) If the screen shot from CPS is correct and everything is "CPS" and never hit with depot, then this is a government radio as it has Q52 in the flash. Why is a brand new, under warranty, government radio being sold on ebay for half of what a legit radio like this normally sells for (not including any government discounts)?
2) If you look at the seller's completed listings, you'll see three listings for this very same radio which all have been ended and re-listed. Don't you think that's suspicious?
3) The firmware is R14.53.00 ....... that's not even an officially released firmware. Granted, it's possible the brand new 8000's are shipping with tihs un-released firmware, it's highly unlikely.
4) Every one of the seller's other items for sale are posted as being located in Chicago, IL. However, this radio listing's location is merely "United States, Unites States". Suspicious?

Like it's been said before... "Buy the buyer, not the item". If you feel comfortable sinking nearly $6000 on this radio, it doesn't really matter what anyone here says.

If he's not a direct dealer, then there's no warranty on the radio.

Assuming he's making a considerable profit (and to cover both eBay and PayPal fees), that puts the price far lower than any the government could purchase them (or Motorola would sell them for).

GSA doesn't get rid of brand new under warranty radios like that. If they were improperly ordered or flashed incorrect for their needs (which I can't see that as the case, being that it is generously optioned), they return them to Motorola.

Regarding the warranty, not being directly purchased from a dealer does not mean it won't be under warranty, If the serial # is valid and not stolen or flagged at Motorola and is still verified as under warranty it will be repaired..

It must be a good friend of his or such.. but who really knows..

His reply

Hello,

You seem to have done your research. Yes, Q52 is only sold to the Feds or though a governmental contract - and I have the ability to make those purchases. If you see others with Q52 and no tags they were most likely added on with hacked version of R14 depot.

Yes, if you purchase this unit retail it would be more than $12,000.

The reason you see a a few of these units is because I have sold several of them. The ones that were canceled were due to bidders not paying up - the last cancellation was done by Ebay to protect me as a seller...

R14.53.00 is available to select customers, and I am one of them.

If you are a serious buyer then make your purchase, I don't want to waste both of our time going back and forth...

Lemme get this straight..... this guy admits to have having a connection at the government who is purchasing radios with government discount pricing and selling them to him (a non-dealer, individual person) who is then selling them on eBay?

Riiiiiiiight.

His connection is his buddy at the loading dock grabbing them before they ever make it into the warehouse at those prices. If it was me i would stay as far away as i could.
