The soft power off button operation is detailed in the help file:

Soft Power Off
Selects a specific radio button that must be radio-user pressed (after the Power knob is placed in the "Off" position) in order to power down the radio. This selection applies on a radio-wide basis.

I get what the help file says but want to know it's use. Why is this option there what's the use for it.

Thank you

It prevents you from inadvertently turning off the radio.

Evening Code 3,

Appears this is a interlock feature to ensure when the radio is powered off by the knob and the feature is enabled, the user has to press a programmed power off button as well to power the radio down

Use Case Example:

Law Enforcement

Radio is thrown or wrangled in a fight and the Emergency button is pressed with alert telling the officer and suspect help is on the way :) perp/suspect then turns the volume knob off thinking it will turn off the radio

Not knowing there is a step 2 the radio stays on.

Sure we can think of other cases depending on input from end users

CoM
If the lights are out when you leave the station and then come on the second you key up, you know you have enough power.
