Opening APX7000?

Post by d119 »

Would anyone mind doing a tutorial on how to properly open and reassemble an APX7000?

Mine has a keypad issue. It could be from lack of use. I have to apply quite a bit of pressure to some of the front (rear?) panel buttons to get them to work. Dialing phone numbers, etc is quite difficult. I wanted to make sure everything is OK inside, but I've never opened one of these, and I don't want to damage my personal radio.

it is literally 6 screws take the speaker out and grill then peel the case off I usually start with the accessory connector side so I don't damage the side buttons.

I figured it out after reading the BSM. Thanks for the heads up. Doesn't seem to be all that big a deal. Looks like I need a new keypad board for my radio though, it IS the buttons. C'est la vie.

Shame too - I bought the unit brand new from Motorola so it's not ALT/DEV, fully tagged... But the warranty is long expired. Maybe some heavy use of the keypad will lighten it up.

depends on what connector you have the dual connectors for screen and keypad or the large connect which does both. I have a brand new screen and keypad with housing just lying around.

Well the more I use it, the better it gets, maybe it just didn't like sitting in the car forever not being used.

I will add that if you ever need to replace the glass LCD lens, please put a piece of packaging tape over it. I followed the BSM instructions to a T and still had random shards of Gorilla Glass all over my bench.
