Need DMR AIS to 4W E&M

Post by chartofmaryland »

Have a growing number of MotoTrbo systems to support and need to cleanly integrate them into a MCC7500 console

Also need to have full duplex as this will be an active patch meaning we cannot interrup one side of the conversation or the other

Cannot find anyone who has made one that works yet.

Prefer a Motorola Solution :o

AIS only relates to logging recorders.

You need a tone remote adapter interfaced to your DMR radio, the output of which will go into a CCGW. You can control up to 16 channels this way. You will not get radio ID's, emergency etc.

Full Duplex is not an option unless you are referring to being able to hear reject/talk permit tones from the DMR radio, which won't be an issue if configured as 4 wire. Otherwise there is NO "full duplex" option for MCC 7500 into DMR networks.

Morning d119,

Mobiles would work but most of the systems I am trying to tie into are all across the country.

Have not had happy customers when we provided them patches through mobile radios run off of JPS NXU-2 setups.

The AIS I am referring to is from AVTEC but have not gotten anyone there to speak a peep to when it will be licensable.

This product in the wind offers full duplex as it operates like a console

At this point I am looking at Cisco again as they are closer to providing an audio gateway capable of DMR and 4w E&M than anyone else.

My NXU's through VPN over DSL always sounded "musical". Crystal clear. We even successfully passed DTMF, if that's any indication of audio quality to you. And you can use them like E&M with their COR and PTT lines.

For plain old analog audio. Never tried to use them to pass encoded audio through their serial ports.

We haven't tried it yet, but I found this interface from Genesis for TRBO into an MCC5500/7500. It looks like it direct connects to the repeater and provides an ACIM connection the CCGW. They're not cheap, but many of our communities are running P25 for PS and MotoTRBO for schools, requiring TRBO emergency and ID functionality in their central dispatch centers.

Really only a few players in this market that I know of --

Avtech is mentioned -
JPS is usually a good option, if you did not have success I would call them and discuss the issues with Benny in Tech Support.
Telex the IP-224 may be a great interface for this, but you do need to be careful about the counts due to the way the serial interfaces work with MOTOTRBO control stations. .

That Genesis solution looks interesting as well..

Evening all,

So a follow up with Genesis leaves me in the same place.

A mobile radio is the required interface for the audio operation of the Genesis server. The only non-mobile option was with a trident panel that may no longer be available as Motorola bought up Trident and only worked on connect plus systems.

When asked, Genesis replied that no one has asked for a vocoder option to be added to their product along with never having enough customer interest in a 4w full duplex console interface solution between MOTOTRBO and Astro25 systems.

As usual though,

If I can find enough group interest and a good many interested buyers, the engineering team would be willing to look into a solution like described.

I towed the line about the nightmare of a public school system that has a bus turned over and on fire located out in rural America, the school dispatcher is on 3 phones trying to tell the PSAP all about the incident, then the PSAP dispatcher realizes they have a mobile radio for the schools on their console and then starts stepping on the other school users along with times when the PSAP dispatcher and or the casualty bus driver is not getting through as the system only allows single transmission and so on and so on. . .

I then described the same scenario and how a full duplex console and remote desk set solution could allow so much more of the conversation to stay whole, not require important users to wait to talk, yahda yahda yahda.

Turning blue while restricting the airway is becoming a sad reality in this industry

You might want to try reaching out to Raven Electronics -- Brett Dawson

Do do a lot of very interesting interfaces and may have an answer for you --
