Squeak in Crown Vic

Post by arlojanis »

A lot of Crown Vics get an intermittant squeak in the front end. What causes it and how do you fix it?

Dont buy a Ford,

Actually I have seen it in some of the 99-2002 PI's it has to do with the bushings in the front end, over time it gets sloppy

Actually, the squeak is called a "Motion Approachment Alert Device".

Yup. Had an Explorer that did it too, and it was the front end bushings.

Also check clearance and condition of hood spacer thingys...

I had the passenger side bust (brittle plastic)... Had spring sounding noises anytime I hit a speedbump, dip, etc... Replaced the broken plastic retainer and the noise went away :)

Grease the hood stops and the latch assembly, let us know if it goes away.

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

Hood stops... Thats the word I was looking for :) Also make sure they're in proper adjustment, i.e. hood sits on them in a level manner...
