What type of wiring and where to source??

Post by sailor »

Howdy,

At one time I had a couple (HEAVY) spools of 100ft of red/black 8 gauge cable. It was a two conductor cable (one red, one black) inside an outer grey plastic insulator. It was nice and flat, and easy to work with. It made running power so easy compared to separate red & black primary wire.

I'm looking for a source for this type of wire. I need to do some new installs in my truck and need cable.

Installing the following:

Yaesu dual band ham mobile
Kenwood UHF commercial
Kenwood VHF commercial
Strobes
LEDs
Siren
Pyramid repeater
Various accessories

I'm in Canada, so if anyone has suggestion of a source I'd be very happy.

I need some heavy stuff 4 gauge, and some 10-12 gauge as well.

We've also used "boat cable" which has a white covering with black and white wires.
