HI:

Cloning a radio from one to the other is really
pretty simple so long as EACH radio being cloned
is identical in Model Number ( as in a fleet ) of radios
that are exactly the same

From the Get/Save menu just use [ F5 ] Clone Codeplug

Only the Freqs get cloned, all the alignment settings are
unchanged.

For trunked Maxtrac radios, or any GM300 series, what Monty said is true. However, it's an entirely different story with a conventional Maxtrac. There is a definite procedure involved, and it has to be done in the proper order. Let's see if I can remember, it's been a while. I have it written down, but it's at work!

1) First you have to read the "master radio". This just means the radio you want to clone from.

2) You must then save it as an archive. Alternately, you can have the archive already saved on a disk or your hard drive.

3) Now read the "target radio" (the radio you want to clone to)

4) Once the target radio has been read, then go into the "F5-clone" menu. You will see the list of any archives you have on your computer, just like in the "F3-get archive" screen.

5) Select the "master archive", and read it. What is happening here is that the RSS is reading the information from the archive, but it will retain your current model/serial number.

6) Once finished reading the "master archive", the RSS will put you back into the Get/Save menu. Now simply hit "F8-program radio". The RSS will write all the new information into the "target Maxtrac" now.

I think that's the proper procedure, it sounds right to me. Seems like a real hassle, and compared to other models, it is. But, it does save a lot of time when you have a lot of channels, or multiple radios to program. Good Luck,

Todd

HI:

If you are new, this is from the RVN-4019H RSS User Guide.

This is for ALL Maxtrac 50/100/300, Maxtrac 820/840
Privacy Plus 250/750/500X/1000X

Personality information in a Archive File can be copied into
another Archive File. This is refered to as Cloning. Cloning
provides the ability to transfer all customer spacific information
from one radio to another. In the case of maxtrac Mobiles, the
code plug data of the [ Target ] Radio must 1st be saved to a archive file.

THen the [ Master ] codeplug data is brought into the computers
memory ( either from the radio or the archive file ) and the archive file of the target radio is overlaid onto the Master data.

To use the Clone Function, use the following steps.

1. Save all the target radios to archive files using the Get/Save
Screen.

2. Load the Master radio or [ Master Archive File ] into the Computer
memory with the Get/save screen functions F2 or F3.

3. Press function [ F5 ] and the clone file screen will be displayed

4. Select the desired archive file ( serial number to be cloned
in the same manor you would have selected any archive file.

ONLY RADIOS WITH THE SAME MODEL NUMBER MAY BE CLONED

5. Save the radio codeplug data by saving as a archive file OR
saving to the radio to be cloned using the get/save screen

As a example:

Lets say you get a call from John Doe who has 10 Maxtrac Mobiles.

He wants the PL codes changed.

IF you have his radios archived ( all 10 ), you can take one of the
radios and make a PL Code Plug change.

This is now the Master Radio Codeplug.

SAVE the Master Radio Codeplug, and CLONE the other 10 Radios
saving [ Each ] archive as it has been cloned.

Now its just a matter of loading the files back into Joes Radios
and takes only a few minutes, and he is back on the air.

Hope that helps clarify the proceedure.
