MC micro programming problems

Post by Juan Skinner »

There are two interface diagrams for the MC Micro/Compact/Centro etc. in circulation. At first glance, they appear to be similar but on closer inspection, the two are at odds with each other with their microphone pin assignments. On crossreferencing with the head unit schematic, we discern that the Batlabs watermarked diagram http://www.batlabs.com/images/micro.gif is correct but Mago di Oz's mic pin numbering is incorrect http://www.batlabs.com/images/gtf297a.gif . He has counted pins from the wrong end and so each number is the 6's compliment of its true value. Hope no-one has blown anything up over this misinformation. There are widespread reports that programming through the mic socket is problematic and I wonder if it stems from this.
Incidentally, dispite all I have been able to learn about this early unit, I have still been unable to program it. See my recent post in the hardware queries section. Fortunately, I have always used the umbilical 15way plug so the above caveat has not applied in my case. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

MC micro programming problems - update!

Post by Juan Skinner »

Update - I can now write to this radio! The problem was a sticky turbo switch on my creaky old 386! The turbo light now goes off after a bit of rapid toggling. It seems even a 33MHz processor at full speed terrifies the life out of this poor old black & white software. Still can't make it do what I want it to do, bleeps and grumbling noises! I'm guessing the software does not verify the CP or somesuch.
