We have about 68 UHF Moto HT1000's. The models end in ...AN, ...BN, ...CN, and ...DN. Most are DN's. Every one of them has an option in the RSS where radio bandwidth, or alternatively what is labeled as "IF Bandwidth" is adjustable for 12.5, 20, and 20/25Kcs on a channel by channel basis.

Other than that, none of them explicitly has a channel provision like the newer ones have for "12.5Kcs Channel spacing". We have been told that some HT1000's are capable of being narrow banded, others are not. Is there a way to tell from the model number which are, and which are not, or, what should I be looking for when in the RSS.

Narrow band is the same as IF Bandwidth 12.5 khz on the HT1000 Jedi series radios. Setting this gives you the narrow 2.5 khz deviation, modulation, and the narrow receiver.

Thanks. That is what we thought. Looks like that feature is available in all the models, A,B, C, and D. Maybe we dont have to buy new ones for 2013 after all.

I was under the impression only the "DN's" were narrow band capable in the HT1000 line. This is why people want more $ for the DN's. GARY N4KVE

AN, BN, and CN revisions do not do 6.25k steps, or splinter channels. They will do narrowband deviation, but will not program to the new "splinter channels". The Dn's are the only ones that will do them. Its just easier for shops to tell people that the others are not narrow band capable than explain that they will work on some frequencies, but not on others.

just because that option is there in the cps don't mean the radio will take it and work correctly. the D models are the only ones that are capable of narrow band as stated earlier

HT1000's use RSS not CPS. Some CN's will take it too.

EVERY HT1000 - AN thru DN will do 12.5 kHz channel narrowband. They all do the narrow deviation and narrow IF, and they all hit the 12.5 kHz channels. The earlier ones have (generally) 5 ppm TCXOs, so keep that in mind.

I keep hearing how "only the DN will do narrowband", and that is complete BS - I have some of each here, and I tested every one.

I think where the confusion is that when you enter a 12.5 in a AN,BN and some CN's that it wont take the freq and rounds it to the nearest. I agree with Hartley

Actually, you can enter a 12.5 in an AN, etc. - and it will work properly - what NONE of them will do is a 6.25 freq - those will fail for sure!
