MT/MTS2000 firmware upgrade question

I have a MT2000 and MTS2000, both are ancient firmware beasts (R1.** and R2.**). I would like to get a firmware upgrade on both of them, IF and only if the price is right.

How much does it costs usually to send to a radio shop and get a firmware upgrade? Is there any fellow batlabber willing to help? :D

Thanks
Dennis

The only way to update the firmware for the MT2000 is to replace the controller board, as it's a "closed architecture" design, and can't be field upgraded. The latest firmware for the MT2000 is 2.xx, they don't go any higher.

The MTS2000 is normally FLASHport upgradeable in the field...however, the very early units with firmware versions in the 1.xx range were actually the same controller board as the MTX8000, and are thus not upgradeable either. So, it depends on your existing firmware version somewhat. The latest MTS2000 firmware is 6.xx.

Most shops won't go through the hoops required to obtain the FLASHport package to only flash a single radio, although you might get lucky.

Todd's correct, most places won't bother. I called 4 locals and 4 on the "national" scene.

The depot price for the MTS update was $275, but, they graciously covered shipping.

6 weeks, though, must have gone to Mexico.

I have another MTS that needs it, but, I'm not going to bother. I'll wait to pick up a controller somewhere.
