Help with Astro Spectra..........

Post by WK9F »

Hello,

I have a question regarding the Astro Spectra radio. I just received one that is supposed to be 800mhz (no factory tags). I am trying to read it with RSS 9.5. When I press the key to read data from radio, there is about a 10 second pause, then the radio 'reboots' and the RSS tells me that communications with the radio failed. The only thing I noticed about this radio is that when I plug the programming cable in, the radio turns on immediately (as opposed to when I use the same cable with a regular spectra, I have to turn it on). During the power-up sequence, the display reads 'Spectra+'. My programming setup is as follows: NEC VersaV/75 laptop, RLN4008B, Factory Spectra (LP) cable and a Monty RIB to Computer cable. This setup works with any radio that I have tried to program. Performing a comm test produces a time out error. Is this radio screwed up, or am I?

You have an Astro Spectra Plus... not an Astro Spectra...

This requires different RSS / CPS.

To confirm: put the radio into service mode like any other spectra by pressing the "home" button 5 times after self-test. Post what you see here, and I'm sure someone will be able to confirm this.

Ok, I did as TPG suggested. Here is what I got:

Host rev: R024005
DSP Rev: R024005

Serial #: Went by too fast
CH 31
4 meg
Flashcode: 500001-000000-8

Hope this helps.

It is indeed an Astro Spectra Plus.

You will need different CPS for that radio.

Good Luck!

Ok, now that that's all cleared up - What's the difference besides being a pain in my backside? Is one better than the other, or is it just big M being difficult?

It's Motorola's interim 'Fully APCO-25' complaint mobile, the counterpart to the XTS5000 portable. The newer mobile XTL5000 is it's successor.
