Interesting MT1000 dilemma

Post by n9ysu »

Ok..I've got a 16ch MT1000 VHF, that for some reason, when you key up on channel 1, the radio resets... It receives ok on 1, and transmits & receives fine on all other channels... but it doesn't seem to like channel 1 transmit.... Any ideas?

Check to see if Channel 01 is enabled as "Receive Only Channel."

Channel busy with Tx Inhibit enabled?
Transmit out of acceptable band limit?
VCO/Synthesizer out of lock?

Ran into a similar problem once with battery saver enabled.

Ok.. just to make it more interesting.... Channel 1 is programmed for our FD repeater split. If I keep it programmed with the offset (tx is 155, rx is 154), when I key, the radio resets (just as if I turned the radio on.) all other channels (even reapeter channels) transmit fine. If I take channel 1 and make it simplex - no problem at all....

Well - problem was solved- I had converted the radio from 8 - 16 channels, but when I programmed it for 16, I had changed the bandsplit from 146-174 to 146-160 - oops... I changed the bandsplit back to 146-174- no more problems - all works fine...

Sometimes it's the smallest details....

I think it's because life in general is so complex
that we often overlook some of the rudimentary
solutions. Nevertheless, congratulations on solving
the problem. Cheers !!
