P110 Error 21 Not Supported

P110 Error 21 Not Supported
I have a couple P110's that are model #P44QLC00D2AA. I have no problems programming except with one (1) that reports Radio Not supported Error 21. I am thinking someone put a different radio in this case and replaced the cover that has the P110 model number. HOW CAN I TELL WHAT RADIO I ACTUALLY HAVE. Tried many different programs and no and dice. The board has a number 848053380-P5 OMN. Any ideas????
It could be one of many, but a Europe 5 Tone comes to mind.
Also the later P110 radios used the GP350 RSS package. Could also be a GP300 or even a 350, and there are several variants of them sold in Europe and Asia.

In addition, when you get the Error 21, many times
that can be a simple Software Issue as well.
Motorola did make some P110 Software that is
Exclusive to P110's, and if you try and Program a GP300
for example, you would encounter the Error 21.
Also, since the Chassis of the P110 and GP300 are
identical, often two way techs may change the case
around and remove a GP300 chassis and install
it into a P110 Housing since it has a larger battery
The easy way of knowing for sure is to " List the Model "
number or the radio in question.
As time moved foward, Motorola did combine some
of their Software to include both the GP300 AND P110
and that is clearly displayed when the RSS is booted up
to the first screen.

Actually, the early RSS did both GP300/P110. Later on, it moved from that to standalone P110 RSS, and the combo GP300/GP350. The latest version for P110 is 8.00.03, part# HVN9852J. Once the radio has been programmed with P110-only RSS, the earlier GP300/P110 combo RSS won't work. The combo GP300/GP350 has never worked for P110 at all.

Another point to consider, is that someone hacked the radio for more channels. If the radio has 16 channels, it may have a hacked code plug. If this is the case, then I have seen this problem show up.
This is done by modifying the MDF file in the RSS and the radio will only be able to be read with the modified RSS after it was changed.
