BIG help with a Zetron 38 and Motorola R100????

Okay, I am lost here. I have a zetron Model 38 connected to a PL R100. It is set for PL 77 and no DPL.

It works (ocassionally)......Here is the story. (interface is per zetron inst.)

When I disconnect it and power it down after testing or to move it to the site and it gets powered up the controller doesn't want to operate correctly, or it doesn't appear to sync with the controller.

I will see the power light and the carrier light upon tx of the portable, but no encode or decode, or TX.

Now ocassionally if I unplug/plug the DB25 and screw around with the R100 repeater disable switch the units will mesh and work completely fine. The controller isn't loosing it's programming b/c it won't accept me even trying to enter the programming mode thru DTMF. The DTMF light acknowledges the key press, but nothing.

I am loosing my cool with this unit....PLEASE, Any Help is Appreciated..
