I've never seen that wording on the display before...I'm assuming this is the same radio you originally posted about, where you first tried to read the radio with regular DOS 5.05.00, and it came up with the "fail 10/92" immediately after, and the screwy model & serial numbers? Was it working before all this? It sounds like it was the victim of a bad hack job. I don't believe there are any toolproofing issues with the MCS radios.

the radio worked fine before first programming it , then it got currupted and i just got a regular fail 01/92 error the only time i get the weird selbft test fheror01/92 is when i programm using mtsx lab write w/o pack ; i only get the error when programming an mcs or mts codeplug in the radio not with the mtx8000 codeplug?????????
So far, it's only known for the MTS2000 with firmware 5.42 or greater. You can read the write-up about it here:

I'm unaware of any issues for other models, including the MCS2000. You can mess up a Spectra or Maxtrac using the "EEprom Access" (bit banging) mode if you don't know what you're doing, but that's a user issue, not a LAB RSS incompatibility. Always save a packed S-record of your radio, just in case, when using MTSX or Astro LAB.

Hi!
You have a german MTS2000 or a reflashed
radio with some german stuff.
Try to write the native codeplug back,if
you´ve saved it before wrote the radio!
If you don´t have the old native codeplug, try
to get one from another radio, programm it with mtsx-lab in the same way and retune the radio.
The radio must be same bandsplit and type.
If you don´t have luck with this, reflash it
into a MTS 2100 radio(if your radio is
a 4m/2m/70cm radio).This it quite easy,
and you don´t need the :oty Smartrib for
it!
Here¦s the guide for converting the GM/GP1200 to a 2100 series radio.
Create a codeplug for your radio, that you want to convert and save
it to disk.
Copy the created codeplug to mtsx-lab and rename it to
dmtest.ds
Start mtsx-lab press F3,F6 and F2(read archive).
Then press F10,F4 and F8(write to radio).
That¦s all you have to do!
Use for this the standart RIB mode(not the flash mode).
Now the radio shows an error 2.
Flash the firmware with the upgradetool(flash mode) and retune
the radio with the 2100 series RSS.
